Last Full Day

The title says it all. This was our last full day in South Carolina and Amber and I have enjoyed it to the fullest. We started early this morning and ate a little breakfast (okay maybe a lot). I had free waffles and a bagel from the complimentary hotel breakfast bar. After breakfast Amber and I set off in search of Walmart and Best Buy. We made a quick stop at Walmart for some much needed pain reliever for the ride back and then we headed to Best Buy for Amber's new computer cord. Her old one broke last night and wouldn't charge her laptop.

After Best Buy we went over to Ripley's in Myrtle Beach. It's very difficult to find free parking, so we ended up paying a metor for about an hour and a half. Ripley's was pretty cool; there were a lot of interesting things in there and one walkway that made us both very dizzy.

Next stop: Hard Rock baby! Amber and I proceeded to lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. I shoved down some really excellent nachos and a great steak. I got 10 percent off from having AAA. (Thanks Ed!) I also bought a t-shirt from the gift shop with another 10 percent discount.

After Hard Rock, we came back to the hotel and changed for the beach. We stayed on the beach for HOURS! About five hours to be more precise. We started off further down the beach (away from the hotel) but there were alot of fish in the water and they were catching our waves. Amber and I didn't like the fish so we decided to move closer to the hotel. There were less fish, but they were still present. I don't know what the deal is with these little guys, but I think they should move further out to sea. Anyhow, we had a lot of fun and I miss the beach already!

One last adventure. Of course Amber and I have to end the trip with a bang, so we got tattoos! No, not real tattoos, don't worry. We got Henna tatoos that will last (hopefully) about a month. I got a tiger on my shoulder and it looks incredible! Amber got a Ravens logo (boo) on one shoulder and a 9-11 remembrance heart on the other. I think they came out great. The adventure of course took us hours though. We ended up going to pretty much every shop in town and everyone was out of ink. Go figure. We had to go all the way to the strip on Myrtle beach again, but we found what we wanted and we're very happy.

Tomorrow we start the drive back, and hopefully (cross your fingers), nothing will go wrong. Wish us luck, it'll be a long trip back!

Finally Here

We finally made it to South Carolina today after about six hours. It should have taken us about three hours, but we had a few detours. Detour number one was due to faulty directions. Our printed AAA TripTik told us to take Highway 17 North which would turn into 17 South and back into 17 North again.

Well, we ended up in Wilmington somewhow, which is what we were aiming for anyway. We pulled over at Wendy's to find out exactly where we were and get something to eat. A guy in Wendy's gave us directions that happened to be a back way and a dead end road. It wasn't a bad thing, he just didn't tell us that we had to take the Fort Fisher ferry to the other side.

Amber and I had two options. The first option was to take the same road back which wasn't a very good idea. By that time it had started raining and we came in on a beach road. It was basically miles and miles of traffic and stop lights. The other option was to take the ferry. We chose the latter. It turned out to be a great choice for $5 and we both enjoyed the 20 minute ride.

Then we took some other backroads and finally made it back to 17 we we should have taken originally. Oh well, things happen for a reason right? We arrived in Myrtle Beach and after crashing at the Quality Inn hotel for a little while, we headed out and explored. Amber and I drove the main street, stopped at a novelty store, saw the beach and stocked up on lunches at Walmart. Then we decided to order pizza (yummy Hawaiian) and we've called it a night. Tomorrow, the beach! Once again, I can't wait!
